Chris Bithell Claims Fourth at Mountain Ridge

Chris Bithell earned fourth place at the Mountain Ridge GNCC in Central City, Pennsylvania over the weekend.

Bithell was fourth off the line as the pro’s headed into one of the dustiest races of the season. The extreme dust and poor visibility caused Bithell to drop off to sixth at the end of lap one.

He worked hard to make up time in the early laps, but again, dust played a factor in attempting to close gaps.

“When I came in for my pit, my crew was telling me how far out everyone was and all I could tell them was, “I can’t see, I’m trying!” The dust was brutal. Not only for vision, but also breathing...for both me and the quad,” regarded Bithell.

Bithell was able to make a few moves on lap four and take over the fourth position. Once in fourth he worked to close the gap on third. He got right on third positions bumper near the end of lap five, but by then the dust had taken its toll on his motor and he knew he had to save it in order to finish. He crossed the finish in fourth.

“The Suzuki ran well all day, it was just really getting hot at the end. I would hear the motor cut here and there and knew I had to back off a bit. The dust had really done a number on it and it was hot. Overall, I didn’t finish were I wanted to, but the conditions were challenging today,” said Bithell af-ter the race.

The twelfth round of GNCC racing will be held at Power-line Park in St. Clairsville, Ohio on October 4.
