Print Instructions

HMF Racing Dual 3/4 System Exhaust Instructions

For Models: Maverick (2013-2018), Maverick MAX (2014-2018), Maverick XDS (2015-2016)

Removal

1) Remove the exhaust system with the exception of the front and rear cylinder head pipes.

2) Loosen the nuts at the rear cylinder-to-head pipe flange so that it can be rotated to fit your new HMF exhaust.

Installation

1) Position the “X” collector so that the flange lines up with the front head pipe under and behind the driver’s seat, being sure that the original donut gasket is still in place. If this gasket is worn or damaged, replace it with a new one. Start the original bolts and springs at this location, but do not tighten yet. (See Figure #1)

2) Install the rear cylinder “U” bend into the “X” collector (The rear cylinder head pipe will need to be rotated towards the driver seat to ensure proper exhaust system alignment), being sure that the original donut gasket is still in place. If this gasket is worn or damaged, replace it with a new one. Start the original bolts and springs at this location, but do not tighten yet.

3) Using the supplied shoulder bolts, nylock nuts, and washers, mount the supplied silencer mounting bracket to the top silencer hangers.(See Figure #2)

4) Slide the new HMF silencers over the outlets of the X collector while lining them up with the previously installed Silencer mounting bracket.

5) Use the supplied allen bolts, washers, and nyloc nuts to secure the silencers to the bracket.  NOTE:  You may need to adjust the placement of the X collector and U bend to get the Silencers to mount up to the bracket.  Because all of the parts can move individual from each other, this can be a bit difficult.

6) Inspect all areas for proper clearance and alignment. Be sure that all wires, hoses, etc. are out of the way of any hot or moving parts. Adjust as necessary.

7) Tighten the rear head pipe nuts.

8) Install the supplied “U” bend to “X” collector (short) spring using a long piece of electrical wire or a spring puller.

9) Install the supplied (long) springs at the silencer-to-“X” collector joints.

10) Torque the head pipe to the “X” collector bolts/springs, and the head pipe to the “U” bend bolts/springs to 12.5lb/ft or 150in/lbs.

11) Install the supplied adhesive heat shield to the brake line. (See Figure #3)
